College Assembly celebrates achievements
The Trinity community gathered for an assembly this week to acknowledge the achievements of our students and share the exciting opportunities they have been making the most of.
The event commenced with an Acknowledgement of Country delivered by Oscar, and Zac read a thoughtful prayer recognising the humanity that binds us all in recognition of National Anti-Bullying Week.
Lily introduced Jen, Bailee Rooney and Biddy to speak about their Palm Island Immersion experience that provided the students with an incredible opportunity to learn about the culture and lifestyle of this unique part of the world.
Kayley and Bridie shared their learnings from the VCE Outdoor Education Camp at Staughton Vale and the five Year 11 students who participated in the gruelling Kokoda Trek at the end of Term 2 were joined by Mr Rob Elborough to talk about their amazing adventures.
Mr Luke Featherston congratulated 31 Trinity students who participated in the Australian Geography competition, before announcing the students who received special awards. Sam, Lewis, Olivia, Hugh, Lily, Ollie, Sophie and Declan were each presented with a Credit; Jake, Toby and Huge received Distinctions, and Olivia, Matilda and Ann achieved High Distinctions – a fantastic effort.
Sustainability at Trinity is thriving and Mrs Sarah Glennen filled everybody in on the latest initiatives of the group who seek to make a difference in our world in our own backyard before Jorja announced the Music awards for the past few months. Sarah was Muso of the Month for May for her enthusiasm and commitment to being a member of The Elliminations, the Vocal Ensemble, Vocal Trio and Concert Band. June’s winner, Caitlin, is also a member of many ensembles, including The Elliminations, Concert Band and Vocal Ensemble. She is the go-to person for sound and tech requirements and is fantastic at keeping everyone organised. July Muso of the Month was Oscar, who learns two instruments but performs on three in the Vocal Ensemble and the String Ensemble. He is committed to his VCE Music studies and is always willing to help others and perform when needed, in fact he is accompanying the Vocal Trio in their Ballarat Eisteddfod performance this Friday.
Students who completed the Escape Room challenge were awarded with a canteen voucher for their fabulous effort: Indee, Hudson, Tilly, Belle, Taneisha, Noah, Josh, Beau, Ryder, Jasmine, Monique, Charlie and Ethan.
The gathered students and teachers were then entertained by The Elliminations, who were sporting their brand-new promotional hoodies. The assembly wound up with information about Trinity Day coming up at the end of term and a call for students to enter the Social Justice club’s art competition that seeks to challenge injustice, ask questions and make a statement through art and activities.
Well done to all the assembly presenters and congratulations to all of the students who contribute to the diverse and interesting activities that take place at Trinity. Together, we make a difference!
