Blessings and awards at special assembly

The College community gathered today for an assembly to celebrate Refugee Week and wrap up the term with some special presentations.

Year 9 students hosted a short Liturgy to commence the service, which included a dramatic enactment of the parable of the 10 lepers.

Fr Michael provided an update on the refugee families who once called Colac home before delivering a blessing to carry everyone into the holidays.

Finally, to wrap up the Liturgy, Oscar, Kieley and Mrs Wiedemann performed ‘You’re the Voice, tempting many to sing along with the tune made famous by John Farnham.

After the service, our Principal, Mr Paul Clohesy, presented the Year 7 Semester 2 Class Captains. Congratulations to Evie, Taylah, Lila, Claudia, Rhuby and Ebony for their achievement.

Biddy and Logan gave a report on the Music department’s activities and there was plenty of buzz about the many competitions and challenges available in the Resource Centre.

The finalists for the Indonesian Speaking Competition were congratulated, with Olivia, Rhuby, Carter and Sammriddhi in Year 7 and Indee in Year 8 making it through to the next stage of the prestigious challenge.

The assembly continued with Year 12 students Lara and Paige providing a moving farewell to French exchange student, Meline, and then the all-important tally of student commendations that earn valuable points towards the House Spirit Cup that will be awarded at the end of the year. McAuley House received 118 student commendations, with Glowrey at 114, Rice with 106 and MacKillop with 103.

Congratulations to these students who embody the core values of Trinity and are role models for the Trinity Difference!
