At Trinity we recognise our responsibility to provide and maintain an effective and efficient contemporary learning environment. This shared responsibility extends to all staff, students and parents accessing the College Information and Communication Technology (ICT) resources and systems.

The College endeavours to continue to provide ICT which:

  • personalises and extends student learning
  • through College planning for professional learning, improves the educational skills of teachers
  • supports connected learning beyond the school
  • supports systems for the safe and appropriate access and management of digital learning and teaching resources.

Technology in the classroom

There is a strong body of evidence to suggest that digital technologies have a positive impact on learners. Specifically, research shows that integrating digital technologies into teacher pedagogical practice can; positively impact on student engagement and motivation, promote improved opportunities for students to learn through collaboration and conversation, and provide the opportunity for students to control the construction of knowledge.

Trinity College operates a 1:1 device program across the school with students owning their own College-endorsed device. The College's Information Technology Committee ensures that the chosen device will best meet the learning needs of our students, while also being mindful of the financial impact on our families. A decision on the endorsed model will be reviewed annually prior to booklists being prepared for the following year.

One of the great advantages of the 1:1 device program is that Year 7-10 students will have access to a wide range of digital textbooks and on-line resources. The use of a Windows-based device enables our students to access a copy of the Microsoft Office 365 suite of software provided, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, One Drive, One Note and their College email accounts.
